Paintings from Exhibition

Iris Xilas Xanalatos says of the exhibition:

"The north side of Syros has been a great source of inspiration for me recently. This is where the plain is, close to the sea, ideally placed and peaceful. The area is dry, with countless herbs and innumerable scents. Nature is full of surprises and the few local producers exploit its treasures with love.

It was all this and more — this unique corner of the Cyclades, so much the essence of Greece — that I tried to capture and share through my work. To show how much life there is in this microcosm and the experiences, both powerful and gentle, that it allows one to have.

This particular exhibition in Santorini is something special: about half the works are small in size (10 x 10cm), they have been jury selected and have travelled to Japan, Germany, Spain, Serbia, Egypt and elsewhere. This is the first time I have exhibited this work in Greece."

Photographic Pairs features the work of two photographers, both members of the “Photography Circle”, whose paths in life or photography cross.

Platon Rivellis, photo critic and founder of the "Photography Circle", is curator of the exhibition series.

The two photographers  Anthi Mara and Panagiotis Markolefas  at the Cultural Center “ Megaron Gyzi”,  share a personal relationship which began when they were introduced while participating at the “Circle”. The juxtaposition (and contradistinction) of their work is very interesting.

Saturday 15 October 2016 - Megaro Gyzi (20:00)

The opera group "The Medium Project" presents  Leonard Bernstein's work into the sounds of jazz.

Leonard Bernstein's work deals with the importance of personal relationships, the pursuit of happiness and the impossibility of effective interpersonal communication, regardless of time, space, gender, origin, gender relations and habits.

The music of this opera follows a phonetic script that touches upon the classic American musicals of the 1950s with a direct, simple, and pure style into the sounds of jazz.
