PAINTING EXHIBITION

"CONTEMPORARY PICTURES FROM SANTORINI"
The Megaro Gyzi Festival 2008 starts on Friday 1st of August, at 9 pm, with the opening of the group painting exhibition of five contemporary Greek artists, who deposit their artistic glance participating with painting works, oils and aquarelles (watercolours).

Participating artists: Chryssa Aroni, Fotini Kafida-Terra, Stathis Koukopoulos, Yannis Petris, Afroditi Sezenia

The composer-improvisator Yiorgos Psihogios, one of the leading pianists (and accordion players), with impressive virtuosity and spectacular faculty of improvisation, will present an original as much as unique recjtal of piano completely improvised. Because each recital of improvisation of the pianist-composer Yiorgos Psyhogios is unique and it can not be repeated. And this because in Psyhogios recjtals the only road leading him is the road of the heart, brain and soul, as these are expressed through the special and explosive temperament of the young pianist.

NATASSA BOFILIOU

"UP TO THE END" and not only ...

The young singer Natassa Bofiliou, one from the most promising voices of her generation, will perform live at Megaro Gyzi songs of her personal albums as well as songs from beloved Greek composers to more international artists like Nick Cave, Astor Piazzola and Amy Winehouse. The mellow voice of Natassa Bofiliou will take us on a wonderful journey through the years and the musical styles.

RECITAL OF CHAMBER MUSIC FOR PIANO AND VIOLIN
Spectators and friends of classical music will have the occasion to attend a special recital of chamber music on Tuesday, 26th of August, 9pm, in Megaro Gyzi in Fira, Santorini. The well-known German pianist Uwe Matschke and his daughter, the exceptional young violonist Danae Papamatthäou-Matschke will interpret work of composers J. Brahms, L. v. Beethoven, C. Debussy, E. Grieg and N. Milstein.

The Megaro Gyzi Festival 2008 presents Evi Siamanta, an important Greek singer with special phonetic faculties, who is moving with easiness and comfort between different kinds of music but mainly in the area between jazz and soul. So, the friends of jazz and soul music will have the occasion to enjoy the amazing voice of Evi Siamanta in a wider jazz-soul repertory, with the cooperation of an important group of musicians, the quartet of the saxophonist Takis Paterelis.
